Now that it’s all over but for the hangovers, I’ve done the countback and unsurprisingly the Dogma 2 as ridden by overall winner Bradley Wiggins, the Sky and Movistar teams won more stages than any other bike.
In fact if you add in Wiggin’s two time trial wins as well then Pinarello won 7 of the 20 stages this year – call it a third as round number. A very impressive and dominant result.
The Dogma 2 racked up 5 stage wins. Three for Mark Cavendish including the amazing wins on stages 18 and 20. Chris Froome took his mountain top win on stage 7 and possibly may have been able to stop Valverde taking his mountain stage win on his own Movistar branded Dogma2 on stage 17. In fact the final 3 road stages and the final 4 stages overall were all won by Pinarello.
The Dogma2 is one of the more expensive framesets on the market today at £3950 just for the frameset. It does however come in a whopping 12 different sizes and as well as the standard colours you can have a custom version as well (for extra obviously).
Whilst it’s not a bike I personally have a thing for, plenty of people do and no doubt more well heeled cyclists will be checking them out after such a storming performance in let Tour. If that doesn’t get them on people’s shopping lists then I don’t know what will.
In fairness, the reviews I’ve seen have been glowing, so it’s not just the wins on the pro tour that are impressive.
